Carrying Carsen

Meet Carsen Smith. 

Carsen is a 14-year-old young lady, daughter of Aaron and April Smith, From Conway MO whose life recently took an unexpected turn when doctors discovered a tumor in her knee. After undergoing a biopsy, Carsen and her family received the news no family ever wants to hear: Carsen has osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer.

This page was created to share Carsen’s journey and provide one place for family, friends, and our community to follow along as she begins the road ahead. Most importantly, it is a place to surround Carsen and her family with love, prayers, encouragement, and support.

Carsen is so much more than cancer. She is a 14-year-old girl with an entire life ahead of her, and while this diagnosis has suddenly become part of her story, it does not define who she is. 

Carsen’s treatment and care will require her family to spend a great deal of time in St. Louis, including many trips back and forth. Along with the emotional weight of a cancer diagnosis come expenses that add up quickly—fuel, food, lodging, missed work, and countless unexpected costs.

This page will also serve as the central place to share benefits, fundraisers, upcoming events, and other opportunities to help Carsen and her family.

If there is one thing we know about our community, it is that when one of our own needs us, we show up. We have watched this community rally around families during some of their hardest days, and now it is our turn to help Carry Carsen.
